About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you will have a strong background in regulatory compliance, taxation, VAT, and audits as the main areas of specialization. Moreover, you will play a crucial role in preparing and ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting and regulatory principles, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to established accounting policies and procedures.
- Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and analyze financial data to identify trends and potential areas of improvement.
- Prepare and submit tax returns, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulations in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with local VAT laws and regulations in a timely manner.
- Coordinate regulatory submissions to the relevant gambling authorities in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including but not limited to tax regulations, financial reporting standards, and industry-specific regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure internal controls are in place.
- Assist with the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting regulations and industry-specific requirements, and ensure the organization’s accounting practices remain compliant.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal and operations, to address accounting-related inquiries.
- Coordinate and collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities during audits and examinations.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ACCA or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
- Malta Institute of Taxation, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in the Gambling Industry is considered an asset.
- 5+ years of accounting experience is desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Strong understanding of tax laws and experience in preparing and filing tax returns is mandatory.
- Proficient in using accounting software and financial management systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
